Which 3D QR format to choose: stand, keychain or plaque

The code itself is always the same process, but how you turn it into a physical object changes a lot depending on where that object will live: on a table, on a keychain someone takes home, or fixed to a wall. Here's how to choose well.

Table stand

An angled wedge designed to sit on a counter or table without moving or needing anything else. It's the natural format for anything happening inside your venue: a restaurant menu, a "leave us a review" sign by the register, or a café's menu.

Since the code sits on the angled face, it prints without supports and reads comfortably from the angle someone is sitting or standing at the counter. It's the largest of the three formats, so it also handles longer links best without the code's module getting too small.

Keychain

A small, flat plate with a hole for a ring. It's the format for anything someone carries with them: a wedding favor, a conference or trade-show memento, or branded merchandise.

Being the smallest of the three, it's also the most demanding on the link: the shorter the text or URL, the less dense the code, and the easier it is to scan from an object this size. If your link is long, consider shortening it before generating the keychain.

Wall plaque

A flat plate with two hanging holes, meant to stay fixed in one place for a long time: the WiFi password at a vacation rental, a business entrance, or room signage.

Since it doesn't move, you can afford a generous size without it getting in the way, which gives you room to add longer text (the property name, for example) without losing readability in the code.

A quick way to decide

If you're unsure, ask yourself three questions:

Does the object stay in one fixed spot, or does someone carry it around? Fixed → plaque or stand. Carried → keychain.

Who's going to scan it — someone sitting or standing right in front of it, or someone passing by? Sitting in front, unhurried → table stand (the angle helps). Passing by → plaque, at eye level.

How long is your link? A short link (an Instagram handle, a short domain) works well in any format, keychain included. A long link with lots of parameters needs more room: stand or plaque.

And if the module-size warning shows up red in the tool's preview, the fix is always the same: increase the object's size with the slider, or shorten the link.
